Submitted by admin on Mon, 05/18/2009 - 09:31.The final round of the 2009 Zellmer-Minnesota Orchestra Trombone Competition was held on May 9th at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis.
For the first time in the Competition’s history, we had a tie for the Grand Prize.

| All Other Finalists: | $500 |
The Minnesota Orchestra is proud to sponsor a trombone competition in honor of its long-time Principal Trombonist Steven Zellmer. Mr. Zellmer, who died in 1996, bequeathed a sum of money to the orchestra with instructions that it be used to fund a biennial competition for young, aspiring musicians interested in careers as orchestral trombone players.

Eligibility Requirements
The Applicant: Must be born after January 1, 1982, and must not be under full-time contract with a professional orchestra or band. Previous Grand Prize winners are ineligible.
Preliminary Audition Repertoire
Preliminary Audition Repertoire The audition CD must contain the following excerpts in the order listed.
Excerpts may be found in the orchestral parts (measure numbers provided.)
